Towards the start of lockdown, passionate Italian restaurateurs teamed up to serve wholesome, hearty food to the people of Sheffield. What started as a pop-up, temporary restaurant quickly grew into something phenomenal. Since we flung open our doors a few months ago, the reception we’ve had from the public has been overwhelming, with people coming from far and wide to sample our authentic dishes, deli offering, and cannoli.
Thanks to the response we’ve had from locals and regular customers, we have an exciting announcement to make. It’s time to make things official. North Town Deli & Kitchen will now be a permanent fixture on Abbeydale Road, Sheffield. It’s been plain to see that people in the city have a hunger for our grab-and-go homestyle offering, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the response we’ve had from newcomers and return customers.
“When it all started, we all got together and simply wanted to get back to our roots; making delicious, wholesome Italian food,” explains Gian Bohan, founder of North Town Deli & Kitchen. “We didn’t know what to expect but wanted to be there for people through uncertain times by offering homestyle food. We weren’t looking too far into the future.”
“However, we couldn’t have imagined the success that we’ve seen. It’s honestly humbling. I’ve even had customers come up to me in the middle of the Peak District just to say how much they love the food and compliment the chef. I’ve always been a believer that authentic, comforting food brings people together, and I’ve seen that through this time!”
North Town Kitchen & Deli was originally meant to be a pop-up during this period. However, due to the surge of customers and support from the local community, the team has decided to continue doing what they do best. Taking over the lease of the Abbeydale Road premises, the restaurant will continue to serve locals with the most delicious eats.
Needless to say, the entire team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported their efforts. It means everything. Without people’s amazing ongoing support, none of this would have been possible. We owe a debt of gratitude to Sheffield locals for embracing our offering and showing us that there is space for our slice of Italy in this city.
